Kristi Ackley
Strategist & Campaign Counsel
I am a skilled facilitator and master strategist with experience in visioning and goal setting with organizations and communities, donor-centric fund development, and community and volunteer engagement. My training and technical expertise ranges from creating an effective fundraising campaign to leading a highly productive board. I love working with nonprofits boards to help them accomplish their goals. Prior to launching my nonprofit consulting company, Fair Winds Consulting, I was the Community Philanthropy Manager for a regional foundation serving 14 counties in central Minnesota.
My life has been one dedicated to service. Prior to joining the nonprofit sector, I served almost 12 years in the US Navy as a cryptologist and career counselor. This experience was invaluable in my leadership development, understanding of organizational structure and the importance of culture on morale and team effectiveness.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a concentration in accounting, I am a Journeyman Career Counselor and a graduate of the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy's "The Fund Raising School." Passionate about helping women succeed, I co-found the Women's Leadership Fund in central Minnesota and serve as a partner of SheTaxi, a women's empowerment hub.
I am a wife, mother and resident of Rochester, MN where I love to enjoy the trails, visit local breweries and wineries, attend local theater events and explore all that southern Minnesota has to offer.
As a creative visionary, I lead teams to discover innovative solutions and dream big.

Chief Juggler & Manager of Special Projects
My experience with nonprofits began with my first two positions out of college: the first with The State Historical Society of Missouri and then as the Assistant Director of the Downtown Columbia Association, where I learned the value of collaboration between people who share a common vision.
I hold a BA in English and joined HBH Consultants in 2013 as an assistant to founder and principal Bob Bunger. Now as the Chief Juggler & Manager of Special Projects, I keep the Katrina Lynn and Generosity By Design Teams on track and provide support to both the internal team and clients in a multitude of ways.
Since beginning work in the nonprofit sector, I have helped hundreds of clients plan and execute successful projects during times of transition, including capital campaigns, executive searches and hires, strategic planning, and program evaluation. I am a diligent and compassionate listener and Iove to pull together threads of data into a clear picture to illuminate the path forward.
I am a wife, mom of two, and resident of Milaca where I have served as campaign counsel for a major endowment campaign for the Milaca Scholarship Foundation.
